Pánek Ornamental Garden Centre

Our ornamental garden centre covers 11,000 m² and offers a wide selection of outdoor plants, particularly perennials, trees and shrubs, aquatic plants and water lilies. We have been growing plants outdoors under natural conditions since 1995, giving us more than 30 years of experience.

The garden centre also features life-size sculptures in wood, metal and sandstone, created by its owner, Josef Pánek. Selected works are for sale.

A favourite subject is the vodník, a traditional Czech water-spirit figure. It has guarded the garden centre entrance for years and become the patron of the whole site. Other sculptures and groups of sculptures include Buddha, Víla Amálka (The Fairy Amálka) or Svatý Jan Nepomucký (Saint John of Nepomuk). Another notable group of sculptures is Tesařova dílna (The Carpenter’s Workshop), which found a home across the Atlantic in Dayton in the USA.

The latest addition to the garden centre is the group of sculptures entitled Ve spáru moci (In the Grip of Power), created in 2011 in protest against the municipal authorities in Nová Ves nad Popelkou. The work also attracted press coverage.

Plants and sculptures come together here to create a distinctive setting. Alongside plants for your own garden, you can also discover the individual artistic style of the garden centre’s owner. Our family-run ornamental garden centre is in Nová Ves nad Popelkou, approximately 12 km from Jičín in the Krkonoše foothills.
